Story
Robert was the son of William Adams (1848-1908) and Sarah Wilkinson (1853-1930). He was born in Kippax, but before the War he married Elsie Maud Philips on 13th November 1905 in Birchfield, Staffordshire, and had 2 children, and in 1911, they were living at 5 Mayfield Terrace, Tadcaster, and Robert was working in the Brewery Industry, as a labourer. Robert enlisted in the Army Service Corps on the 26th June 1916, but was only called up on 1st July 1918, when he was 37 years and 5 months old. He was 5 ft 7½ inches tall, and it was noted that he was carrying an old injury to his right foot. Robert was discharged from the army on 1st January 1919, and he moved to Rothwell with his family. He passed away on 17th February 1934, aged 53, and was buried in Kippax.
