Royal Army Service Corps, 289 General Transport Company, Service no. T/14770460
Born: 3rd May 1926. Killed in action: 15th October 1944, Wantage, aged 18
Story
Richard was the son of Harry Randall Fletcher and Eleanor Clayton, who married in Kippax in 1908, after Harry’s first wife, Mary Hannah Bellwood passed away in 1906. They lived at 23 East View, Robinson Lane. Richard was a twin with Fred Fletcher, who was also registered for service in the Second World War, and passed away in 2000.
Richard’s death was registered in Wantage, Berkshire, presumably as a result of an accident, although no details have been found. His body was brought back to Kippax, where Richard was buried on the 21st October 1944. In addition to the Commonwealth War Graves headstone (below left), Richard is also remembered with his parents (below right).
