Royal Air Force
Born: 17th June 1919.
Story
Kenneth was the son of Edgar Howson (1887-1955) and Jessie Reynard (1888-1971), who married in Stainburn in 1915. The family lived at 4 Bickerdike Terrace before the war. Kenneth was an official in the local Scout movement, before joining the RAF. On 7th January 1944, it was reported that Kenneth had met up with fellow villager Kenneth Wood in Alexandria, and had complained to him that he’d not received any mail for a long time. Kenneth Wood managed to produce a copy of the Skyrack Express to keep him up to date with local news.
After the War, Kenneth married Margaret Bessie Nelson on 19 July 1952 in Beamsley, North Yorkshire. On his retirement from a career in the Civil Service, he was awarded an MBE. Kenneth passed away in Selby on 10 October 2006 at the age of 87, whilst his wife died on 7th May 2008 in Selby, aged 85. They couple had two children who are also now deceased.
