Story
John was born in Kippax, late in 1886, and was the son of Benjamin Norton (1848-1910) and Ann Townend (1855-1929) who had married in Kippax on 26th December 1881. John was living at Robin Well Terrace, Kippax, and worked as a miner at Allerton Bywater colliery. John enlisted at the outbreak of war and had seen 12 months active service. He died in hospital from wounds received and is buried at Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France, ref 1.N.7.
