Story

Herbert Prince lived at Kippax Mill farm (below), the son of George Frederick Prince & Louisa Sumner England.  His parents were corn millers and feed merchants.  Harry’s father passed away in 1897 aged 41, and his brother, Harry went to work for the Halifax Bank in Castleford, whilst Herbert and another brother, George, helped his mother run the Mill Farm.

Herbert enlisted in 1915, and served in Mesopotamia.  His brother Harry Prince died from dysentery at the end of the war, and is remembered on the Kippax War Memorial.  In 1939, Herbert was still running Kippax Mill Farm, and had a servant, Grace Bentley.  He passed away in 1952, aged 62.
