Story
Harold Thompson was the son of William Thompson and Rebecca Freeman who married in Garforth on 17th February 1894. Before the war, he was working as a Clerk, and was living at Moorgate with his paternal Aunt, Emma Thompson (1879-1953) who married Sandy Wilkinson (1877-1956) in Kippax on 11th April 1903.
Harold used to play Cricket for Kippax, and on 26th March 1943, it was reported that he was “keeping his hand in.” He was serving in India, and played for a team in Karachi. During the match, Harold took 8 wickets and scored 59 runs, and played so well, he featured in the local Indian Newspaper. Harold passed away in 1976.
