Story
Private George May was born in 1886 in Kippax and before the war had worked at Allerton Pit for over ten years. He enlisted for Army service in 1914 in Leeds and was killed in action at Ypres. His body was never found. George’s brothers David May and Prince May also enlisted. His mother Harriet received a payment of £16 10s from the Army following her son’s death.
