Private George Bradley

Born: 1st September 1919

Story

George Bradley was the son of John Stoker Bradley (1897-1957) and Eleanor Dunwell (1897-1994), who married 13th March 1919.  George was a Tailor’s Presser before the War, and lived with his parents and younger siblings at 6 Mount Pleasant.  During the War, George served in Iceland.  Whilst on leave in September 1941, one of his first calls was to Leeds Infirmary, where he visited his brother David who had been injured in a road traffic accident.  One of his younger sisters Moira was an actress with Kippax Amateur Dramatics Society (pictured below in 1955 for the play ‘The Happiest Days of your Life’).

George passed away in Sunderland 2002.
