Born: 26th November 1917
Story
Edward was the son of Arthur Hull (1886), a Railway Porter, and Sarah Elizabeth Brazier (1888) who married in Whitkirk on 26th December 1910. Edward followed his father’s profession, and worked as a Railway Porter at Kippax Station.
Before the War, Edward was living at 4 Oxley Street, Pontefract Lane, Leeds, working as a Grade 2 Porter for London North Eastern Railway. Edward joined the Royal Artillery, and was among 35,000 Allied Soldier captured by Italian Forces in the Battle of Gazala, Tobruk, Libya. The news was finally reported on 6th November 1942. Edward was held as a Prisoner of War in Italy, until he was subsequently transferred to a Prisoner of War camp in Germany. He was reportedly released and repatriated on 15th September 1944. After the War, Edward married Dorothy Stead in 1946, and they lived at 7 Tranter Place, Whitkirk. Edward passed away in 2002.
