Story
Edward was born in Salford, and was the son of James Gennoe (1869-1940), who was a Railway Carter from Shropshire, and Jane Breeze (1876-1917) who was from Wales. They married in 1898 in Llanfyllin. After leaving Pendleton, Lancashire, Edward married Martha Jones (1905-1975) in 1939, and they were living at 26 Front Street, Glasshoughton. Martha was a Welfare worker, and Edward worked for a Mail Order Company, and took up ARP duties initially. The couple moved to Mayville, Westfield Lane, and Edward was employed at the West Riding County Council Public Assistance Offices, Pontefract, when he joined the Royal Air Force volunteer reserves. On 13th July 1945, it was reported that Edward had been awarded a certificate for Good Service, sanctioned by the Air Officer Commanding in Chief of the Flying Training Command, which was an organization within the Royal Air Force controlling units responsible for delivering flying training. The command’s headquarters were at Shinfield Park, Reading in Berkshire. Edward passed away in 1976 in Fleetwood, Lancashire.
