Born: 18th April 1908
Story
Cyril was the son of Florence Holleyhead (1887-1934). When Cyril was baptised in Kippax on 14th May 1908, Florence didn’t register his father. On 21st October 1914, Florence gave birth to a daughter Mavis, who was also illegitimate, but Mavis passed away on 28th July 1919, aged only 4½.
Florence’s brother was Samuel Haydn Holleyhead (pictured below), who served in the First World War, and died on 11th October 1917 from wounds received in action in France.

Florence passed away on 4th December 1934, when Cyril was 26 years-old. Cyril was working as a violinist and singer for the Billy Crossley Dance Band.
By 1939, Cyril was working as an Insurance agent living at 8 Tatefield Grove, and he married Laura Mary Parry (born 27th January 1915) the same year.
Cyril enlisted in December 1940, and ten months later, it was reported that he had been moved around constantly whilst serving and was based in Scotland at the time. However, he had taken his old violin with him, and had not been separated from it. It was reported that his violin had been in fairly constant use.
After the War, Cyril and his wife Laura lived at 9 Tatefield Grove, before moving down the street to no. 21. Cyril passed away in 1979, and Laura in 1997.
