Story
Charles Gill was baptised in Kippax on 12th October 1890. He was the son of Moses Gill (1861-1942) and Emily Biscomb (1868-1898). His widowed father re-married Annie Hall in 1901, and in 1911, the family were living on Leeds Road, Kippax, and Charles was a Pony Driver down the pit. Charles is mentioned as having enlisted early in the War, but it is not known in which regiment he served. After the War, he married May Underwood on 20th July 1919, and he became a Fruit and Fish Salesman, living at 32 High Street, Kippax, with his wife, son Albert who was born 23rd June 1920, and his elderly mother-in-law Almena Underwood. Charles passed away at the age of 65, and was buried in Kippax on 2nd April 1956.
