Story
Arnold May was born in Leeds, but lived at Rogers Fold, Kippax which is now the location of Kippax Auto Spares. He was a coal miner and had married Sarah Elizabeth Beever in 1909. They had a daughter, Lillian, on 25th April 1910, and a son Arnold in 1916. Sarah was the sister of Norman, Francis and Dennis Beever, who all enlisted. Arnold was officially recognised as having been killed, although his body was never found. He was awarded all three medals and these have been kept in the family. His widow Sarah received £22 2s 1d from the army on 15th July 1919. She remarried Ernest Adams of Kippax on 25th October 1919.
