Story
Albert was the son of William Firth and Anne Cliffe. He married Sarah Ann Prince in Kippax on 23rd May 1903, and they had four children. The family were living at Rose House, School Lane, and Albert was a 5 ft 7 inch tall Platform Porter at Kippax Train Station when he enlisted, after previously working as a Coal miner at 15 New Street. Albert trained and served at home between 3rd August 1916 and 22nd October 1916, before he served in France. He was discharged 18th February 1919, suffering from gastritis, contracted by an infection whilst on active service. This entitled him to an extra payment from the Army. Albert passed away aged 70, and was buried in Kippax on 23rd January 1951.
